Eight MCAC women's basketball programs continued their seasons on Saturday, March 4th, in the quest to secure one of two berths available in Region 13 to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament. In the northern half of the state, Northland CTC hosted the Region 13B semi-finals, with a 2pm NCTC v. Hibbing match-up ending up with a Northland 48 to 34 victory. Northland has won it's last 12 outings and look to be tough to stop in March. With the win, the Pioneers advance to the Region 13B championship, on their home hardwood in Thief River Falls at 2pm.
The other half of the Region 13B semi featured 2nd seed Mesabi Range and 3rd seed Itasca. The rankings held true to form in this match up as well, with Mesabi rolling to a 88 to 63 victory. Mesabi Range will see if the third time is the charm in taking on Northland, having dropped both Division contests to NCTC earlier this season. The winner of the Region championship advances to the NJCAA Division III national tournament being held in Utica, New York, March 16th-18th , 2017.
