MCAC Championship Sunday Update

Coon Rapids, MN-    Two down, one to go.   A full weekend of men's basketball action has brought some upsets and some familiar faces to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference State Tournament.

On Sunday, March 5th,  at 10am, the Consolation Bracket Championship was contested by Riverland and Rainy River, whom both recovered from first-round losses to reach the final.  In a back-and-forth affair, Riveralnd outlasted Rainy River, 103-to-93. 

On the heels of the morning match-up, Central Lakes College and Vermilion faced off in the 3rd place game, the result of both teams dropping their Saturday games, after opening the tournament with Friday wins.   Leading by more than 20 points at one stage of the 2nd half,  Central Lakes held off a late Vermilion surge to prevail, 78-70.
