NJCAA hands Anoka Ramsey the #1 Seed for National Tournament

After rolling through the MCAC Men's Basketball tournament, the Anoka-Ramsey Golden Rams knew they earned the opportunity to win a NJCAA Division III National Championship in their home state, as fellow MCAC school Rochester Community & Technical College is hosting the competition on March 16-17-18.    Anoka now has the added distinction of being placed as the No. 1 seed in the National Championship, garnering the respect and attention of the rest of the eight team field.

The NJCAA Division III National Tournament will feature 8 squads from around the country, all of which prevailed in their respective region tournaments to have the chance to play for the National Championship. Number one seed Anoka-Ramsey will be joined by #4 Davidson County, #5 North Lake and  #8 Mass Bay on their side of the bracket.  On the other half of the tournament,  #2 seed Elgin Community College will start with top-billing, where they are joined by #3 Herkimer, #6 Nassau and #7 Brookdale.

Both Anoka-Ramsey and Davidson have suffered only three losses this season; the Golden Rams sit at 27-3 overall, while Davidson earned a 29-3 mark so far this year.  At the other end of the spectrum, two programs come into the tournament with double-digit losses on their ledger; North Lake (TX) has a 19-11 overall mark and MassBay enters the tournament at 19-12 overall.

The first games will tip-off with the quarterfinal round on Thursday, March 16th, followed by semi-final action on Friday, March 17th and culminating with the National Championship game on Saturday, March 18th at 8pm, Central Standard Time.

The Rochester Amateur Sports Commission, along with Rochester Community & Technical College, have joined forces to run the 2017 NJCAA Men's Basketball National Championships.
