Rochester, MN-

The women's basketball season has come to a close for the Anoka-Ramsey Golden Rams.  Coach Dave DeWitt and his squad entered the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament as the #7 seed, but turned some heads with their opening performance, outlasting fellow MCAC program Northland Tech, 73-71.  Unfortunately, Anoka-Ramsey found itself on the the wrong side of a 83-71 game in the semi-finals, dropping a tough contest to Roxbury Community College.   Moving into the 3rd place game slot, the Rams were not able to pull off another upset and concluded their season with a 77 to 65 setback against Mohawk Valley Community College.

While the 1-2 run at the National Tournament wasn't quite what Anoka-Ramsey was hoping for, the chance to play on the biggest stage NJCAA Divison III women's basketball has to offer was earned with a strong regular season performance.  The Rams finish the year with a solid 20-10 record, won the MCAC South Division title and ran the table in the NJCAA Region XIIIA tournament.

In the scoring column, Anoka was led by all season by Rashonna Thomas (21.9 ppg) and Alyssa Correl (11.9 ppg).  Another Ram, Lateah Turmon, chipped in significantly as well, averaging almost 5 assists per night.  Dariel Lipscomb led the team in rebounding, hauling in over 12 boards per game throughout the year.

Anoka-Ramsey and Northland Tech will return to Minnesota under much better circumstances than their out-bound trip; winter storm Stella forced both squads onto their Plan B for travel to Utica to take part in the 2017 National Championships.
