An outstanding year for several Minnesota College Athletic Conference women's basketball teams was mirrored in four MCAC student-athletes earning All-American honors for the 2016-17 season. 

Northland Technical and Community College post player, ShaRon Miller was named to the NJCAA First Team All-American squad.  The six-foot sophomore let NCTC, and the MCAC North, in most offensive categories, as she helped catapult the Pioneers to the NJCAA National Tournament and a Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division regular season championship. 

Two of the five second team All-American spots were filled by MCAC Athletes; Rashonna Thomas, a sophomore guard from Anoka Ramsey Community College and Nathalie Ratliff, also a sophomore guard, from Rochester Community and Technical College, were tabbed as Second Team All-American's.  Thomas and Ratliff led their respective teams to the NJCAA Region 13A championship game, won by Anoka Ramsey. 

Rounding out the highest honors for the MCAC women's basketball squads was Kari Kuschel, a 5'9" freshman from Itasca Community College.  Kuschel helped lead the Vikings to the Region 13B Tournament and looks to be a dominant player in the MCAC North, as the league looks towards the 2017-18 women's basketball season.
