M State Golf Prepares for National Championships
Rochester, Mn-
In preparation for their run at the NJCAA Golf National Championships at Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, NY June 6-9, the M State Spartan's took to the links this past weekend to compete at the Concordia Spring Invite.
Competing amongst entirely four-year college programs, M State finished 7th in the two day event. The Spartans were paced by sophomore, Chris Swenson, who carded a two-day total of 155.  Additionally, M State freshman Kyle Boe had a career best of 74 on his second day, while Mason Landborg turned in a 78 on Saturday for the Spartans.
Overall, the M State squad finished with a team score of 667 - good for 7th place- edging out NCAA Division III St. Scholastica, who came in at 674.
M State Head Coach Jason Retzlaff noted:
"It was nice for us to compete again after the long Winter break. The first day was one of the toughest days I can remember for windy conditions.  Combine that with the fact we played poorly it was quite a struggle.  The 2nd day we played much better. Chris Swenson played a great round and hit some fantastic iron shots.  Kyle Boe had his best round a Spartan and showed his potential.  We will continue to work to hard in leading up to the National Tournament in June."
The Spartans will continue to train and compete through the spring semester, with their sights set on the NJCAA Div. III National Championship at the Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, NY June 6-9.
