Randy Rager Finalist for Local Honor

The Rochester Amateur Sports Commission has announced the finalists for the annual Rochester Area Sports Banquet to be be held on January 29 and one of the top mentors in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference is among it's honorees. 

Randy Rager, the head wrestling coach at Rochester Community and Technical College is among five candidates up for Coach-of-the-Year.  In 2016-17, Rager directed the Yellowjackets to the non-scholarship NJCAA wrestling national championship.   Rager is in his 13th year at RCTC and was also named the 2017 NJCAA Coach of the Year following the stellar performance of his squad last season. 

The annual event is being moved to the Rochester Event Center near the airport. Minnesota Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen will be the featured speaker for the ceremonies.

The Rochester Amateur Sports Commission is a key partner in the promotion and conduct of RCTC, Minnesota College Athletic Conference and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) events in and around Rochester.  Past events in which the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission was a key figure include the 2017-18 NJCAA Men's Basketball National Championships, several years of the NJCAA Division III Softball National Championships and NJCAA Division III Volleyball National Championships as well as Conference and institutional tournaments and events.
