One of the leading professional development opportunities for women in coaching will be held at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis this April. The Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport will host the cutting edge symposium and seminar, featuring several distinguished speakers, educational break-out sessions over the course of the one-day event.
The 5th annual Women Coaches Symposium on Friday, April 20, 2018 provides high-quality educational programming and professional development for women coaches at all levels.
Coaches, administrators and sport professionals within the Minnesota College Athletic Conference will have access to early registration, which opens January 1.
This year's Jean K. Freeman Keynote speaker is retired Princeton University Women's Swim Coach Susan Teeter. A 33 year veteran at the Ivy League school, Teeter served as head coach of the Tiger women's swim team for over three decades, where she established herself as one of the most decorated swim coaches in the country. Teeter led her program to 17 Ivy League Swimming Titles and eared numerous individual leadership awards, including the College Swim Coaches Association's "Lifetime Achievement Award".

Featured presenters on the 2018 WCS program include Emily O'Hara, who serves the University of Minnesota as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Care Manager in the U of M Office for Student Affairs. O'Hara will lead a breakout session titled: Supporting Student-Athletes in Distress: We All Have A Role.
