National Recognition for Yellowjacket Hoops & Wrestling to Start 2018

The men's basketball team and wrestling squad at Rochester Community & Technical College are both off to strong starts in 2018 and the NJCAA is taking notice. 

The most recent NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball national poll has the Yellowjacket basketball team in the 'Receiving Votes' category.  Coach Brian LaPlante and his team have registered an 11-2 record so far this season and have won eight of their last nine contests. Jumah'Ri Turner is averaging 22.8 points per game and hitting his three-point attempts at almost a 36% rate.  RCTC will face St. Cloud Technical and Community College on Wednesday, January 10 to open up Southern Divisional play.   For the complete NJCAA Division III National Poll, please visit this link

Head coach Randy Rager and his RCTC wrestling team currently sit tied for 7th in the Intermat NJCAA Rankings; the Yellowjackets are even on votes at 36 with Iowa Western and North Idaho.   Rochester is the highest ranked non-scholarship program in the NJCAA and one of three MCAC teams in the national poll.  Ridgewater College (19th) and Itasca Community College (26th) are both found in the most recent rankings, heading into the second half of the 2017-18 wrestling season.  For the complete Intermat NJCAA poll, be sure to click here. 

Individually, RCTC is led by Auston Hall  (141 lbs) and Enkhbold Sukbaatar (149 lbs) who both sit 6th nationally in their weight divisions.  The highest ranked Yellowjacket in the current poll is Alfred Daniel, who is 2nd overall at the 157 lbs. weight class.  Mason Hawkins (197) and Luis Pinto (Hwt) also are found in the national rankings in their respective divisions.
