NJCAA Adds Honor for High Achieving Student-Athletes

Rochester, MN-

Student-athletes from across the Minnesota College Athletic Conference will have an additional honor to aim for in 2018-19.

The NJCAA and CoSIDA have announced recently the addition of a two-year college division to allow for the awarding of Academic All-America Honors.   The new award will be presented in the spring of 2019, in combination with the long-standing four-year college awards found in the NCAA and NAIA.

Within MCAC sports, student-athletes have had the opportunity to earn All-Academic Conference honors, team academic honors in selected sports and most recently, an MCAC Elite Award which is allocated to student-athletes who display success on the field through MCAC All-Division status or higher in their sport(s) and earn MCAC All-Academic honors.

As noted by the NJCAA's Ricky Webster, CoSIDA allows for opportunities in several areas for professional growth and development with college sports marketing, communication, sports information, and other aspects of college sport operations. The yearly CoSIDA convention will attract over 1,000 attendees from NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA and other college sports associations.
