Volleyball, Football Teams Garner National Recognition

Rochester, MN-

Minnesota College Athletic Conference teams within the NJCAA volleyball and football ranks have picked up some weekly accolades for their recent performances.

In football, Northland Community & Technical College is found in the 'Receiving Votes' category of the NJCAA national poll.  In week one, NCTC rolled to a 34-6 win over RCTC on the road in Rochester.  Northland will host Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College in week two action.

Beginning this week, NJCAA football will release a weekly Top 20 - and those programs receiving votes - as determined by a 17-member committee featuring a representative from each of the seven districts, two annually rotating at-large voters, and one representative from the seven conferences along with a representative from the independent schools.  The highest and lowest vote for each team is dropped in the weekly poll count. The MCAC serves as the only Division III, non-scholarship football Conference within the NJCAA.

In volleyball, Central Lakes College, Rochester CTC and St. Cloud Technical & Community College command the #2, #5 and #8 spots, respectively.

CLC is undefeated with a perfect 7-0 mark, including a 1-0 start to MCAC Northern Division play.  Rochester CTC (#5) has also enjoyed a fast start at 4-1, with their only blemish a five-set loss to Central Lakes at the U.S. Marine Corps / MCAC Crossover Tournament.  Sitting at #8, the SCTCC Cyclones have earned a 4-2 mark so far in 2018, playing a mix of NJCAA Division II and III programs.
