NJCAA Recognizes High Performing MCAC Squads

Rochester, MN-

As the 2018 fall campaigns in NJCAA football and volleyball edge towards the post-season, national committees have taken time to recognize high performing teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

Three football programs in the MCAC are found in the national rankings.   Undefeated North Dakota State College of Science (5-0 Overall / 3-0 West) has climbed to No. 16 in the most recent poll, sitting one spot behind Arizona Western.  Both Mesabi Range College and Itasca Community College are in the 'Receiving Votes' category, with identical 4-1 records.   Itasca dispatched a resurgent Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College team in week five by 42-16 scoreline, while Mesabi Range suffered their first defeat of the season to Central Lakes College on Saturday 31-16.

This weeks list is notable in that, for the first time this fall, NJCAA Football Computer Rankings are factored in the overall poll. The FCR and the 17-member NJCAA committee combine in a 25/75 ratio to produce the format.  For the full NJCAA Top 20 poll, please visit: http://njcaa.org/sports/fball/polls

In volleyball, the Minnesota College Athletic Conference continues to have the nation's top team in Central Lakes College.  Veteran coach Jane Peterson and her Raider team hold on the top spot by virture of their 17-1 overall mark and unbeaten 6-0 MCAC Northern Division record.  Rochester Community & Technical College (14-4 overall / 6-0 MCAC South) is the No. 6 team, while M State-Fergus Falls (12-6 overall / 4-3 MCAC South) is No. 9.   Northland Community & Technical College is 'Recieving Votes', with a 14-2 record (6-1 in the MCAC North) on the season so far.
