Cyclone Volleyball Takes Team-of-the-Week Honors

The volleyball team at St. Cloud Techincal & Community College has picked up the U.S. Marine Corps / MCAC Team-of-the-Week honor for the week ending Sunday, October 21.

The Cyclones elevated their game in October, not only on the court, but in helping others in and around their community.  The SCTCC program worked through the Dig Pink initiative to help raise funds for cancer victims in Central Minnesota.  additionally, SCTCC is active in teaching and promoting the game of volleyball to youth in the area, running several popular camps throughout the summer.

SCTCC currently sit at .500 for the year, at 10-10 overall and 5-5 in MCAC Southern Division action.  The Cyclones head into an important week of play, taking on both M State-Fergus Falls and Minnesota West CTC  to wrap up the MCAC regular season.

Head coach Heidi Smith has served as the head volleyball coach at the St. Cloud Technical and Community College since 2011, started her volleyball career at Staples-Motley High School (MN) where she was a defensive specialist and setter on the varsity team for three seasons years, earning All-Conference honors.

A successful NJCAA student-athlete herself, Smith competed for North Dakota State College of Science (Wahpeton, ND) where she lined up as a defensive specialist.

Under the leadership of Heidi Smith, the SCTCC Cyclone Volleyball program continues to excel on the court and in their community, earning U.S. Marine Corps Team-of-the-Week honors this past week.
