Bauer and Hucke Stepping Down In Women's Basketball

Rochester, MN-

       John Bauer, Itasca

Itasca Community College women's basketball coach John Bauer and Rochester Community & Technical College women's basketball coach Steve Hucke have both announced that the current 2018-19 season will be their last on the sideline for their respective teams.

Bauer has served as the head coach at Itasca for 18 seasons, guiding the Vikings for almost two decades of play in one of the most competitive NJCAA Division III conferences in the county.  In 2006, Bauer and his team took home its first ever Minnesota Community College State Championship, finishing with a record of 23-5.   In 2016-17 and 2015-16, ICC notched back-to-back 17-win seasons, sporting a 17-8 overall record and 17-11 ledger, respectively.  Itasca will close out it's 2018-19 regular season with contests against Rainy River Community College in International Falls and a home contest in Grand Rapids against Hibbing Community College.

Hucke - who will continue to serve as the baseball coach at RCTC - led Rochester for 17 seasons and won the NJCAA Division III National Championship in 2008-09; that edition of the Yellowjackets went unbeaten at 34-0.  Other Hucke highlights include last year's trip to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament, as well as multiple MCAC titles and Region XIII Coach-of-the-Year awards.  Rochester currently sits at 6-4 in the Southern Division with two games remaining in the regular season.  The NJCAA Region XIIIA Tournament  will take place over the first weekend in March.  Read more on Coach Hucke at this link in a story published by the Rochester Post Bulletin earlier this month.
