Hibbing Community College recently appointed alumae Kasey Palmer as the new head coach for the Cardinal women's basketball and volleyball programs.
Palmer enters her first year as the head coach at Hibbing Community College, where she will lead both the women's volleyball and basketball teams in 2019-20. Palmer is a familiar face to the HCC campus, having previously played volleyball and basketball for Hibbing between 2009 - 2012. The Floodwood High School graduate earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Hibbing Community College during her time there as a student-athlete. She also earned a second degree in Criminal Justice from fellow MCAC-member school Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College. Palmer brings the HCC programs experience in coaching both the girls volleyball and boys basketball programs at FHS from 2013 to 2017.
The Cardinal women's basketball program tied with Northland CTC for the 2018-19 MCAC Northern Division regular season title and captured the 2018-19 Region XIIIB women's basketball hardware; they went on to compete in the 2019 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championships. In volleyball, Hibbing finished fourth in the MCAC Northern Division, qualifying for the 2018 NJCAA Region XIIIB post-season.
