The Spartan's head coach Jason Retzlaff noted: "It was an enjoyable day of golf against another excellent golf program in Southwest Tech.  One of the nines we played at Meadow Green was shorter so that helped scoring significantly, but it was a very unique layout that forced the players to think about where they wanted to place the ball the on some tee shots.  Carter Justesen was outstanding today shooting under par.  He didn't have a lot of stress out there and picked up where he left off after a great season last year.  Trevor Dalbec also played extremely well and is someone who we know has the talent to be a very good player for us.  Overall, it was a nice start and we look forward to building from it at home this weekend against a number of four-year colleges."

The Spartans will next compete on Saturday, September 14 when they host the Spartan Invitational.  The Spartan Invitational features a noon shotgun start and will include the men's and women's teams from Concordia College-Moorhead, Valley City State College and the University of Minnesota-Morris.
