Lake Superior College routinely produces some of the largest Clay Target team rosters in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, and they can claim two of the most accurate competiors as well.

Daniel Reilly hit 100-of-100 targets in his most recent outing for Lake Superior and teammate Kallie Kimmes went 50-for-50 in the same timeframe for the IceHawks and head coach George Pappas. 

Kimmes is a second-year performer for Lake Superior and was one of the top female competitors at the 2018 MCAC Fall Championships; Reilly currently is tied for the lead the MCAC Red Division with a perfect 25 season average.  The two IceHawks claims Athlete-of-the-Week honors for the week ending Sunday, September 22. 

After a few weeks of competition, Pine Technical & Community College is leading the Blue Division with a 423 season total.  In the Red Division, Southwest Wisconsin Technical College is on top, coming in at 2812.50 so far this year.

Two Divisions - Red and Blue - comprise the MCAC Clay Target league this year.  With the addition of three colleges; Alexandria Technical & Community CollegeRidgewater College and North Dakota State College of ScienceMCAC squads are grouped into one of two six-team Divisions.  Learn More about the divisions here; or go to this link: http://mcac.claytargetscoring.com/teamlist

Colleges with a roster size of 23 athletes to 45 athletes are in the Red Division this year; Alexandria Technical & Community CollegeSouthwest Wisconsin Technical CollegeLake Superior CollegeRidgewater CollegeNDSCS and Vermilion Community College.

Schools with a roster size under 23 are found in the Blue Division.  They include Northland Community & Technical College;  Lake Region State CollegeItasca Community CollegeMinnesota West Community & Technical CollegePine Technical & Community College and Hibbing Community College

In addition to the twelve varsity programs noted above, at least two other community colleges in Minnesota are fielding club teams this fall; Minnesota State College-Southeast, with campuses in Red Wing and Winona and MCAC member Central Lakes College both have active club squads on campus in 2019. 

Teams will continue to compete weekly, as they march toward the 2019 MCAC Clay Target Fall Championship, held in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on Tuesday, October 15. 

Registration for the Fall Championships is currently open and all student-athletes and participating varsity programs are eligible to compete.  New this year, the Fall Championships will feature Novice, Junior Varsity & Varsity levels of recognition. 

Clay Target is the fastest growing sport in the upper Midwest and around the county.  The Minnesota College Athletic Conference is proud to be the first varsity, two-year college athletic Conference to provide a platform for Clay Target teams and coaches.
