Lake Region Royals Claim Athletes-of-the-Week Honors

Winona, MN-

Three student-athletes from Lake Region State College have nabbed Athlete-of-the-Week honors in Clay Target within the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

Spencer Frith, a sophomore from Devils Lake High School, currently sits third overall in the MCAC Blue Division.  In Week Four, Frith hit 49-of-50 targets, good for a 24.5 average and tops on the Royals team.  He is also currently 2nd overall in the Blue Division at 24.10 for the season, just .20 back of Nick Wegner who competes for Pine Technical & Community College. 

Forrest Hanson, a freshman from Webster, North Dakota, is listed at 3rd overall within the Lake Region State squad.   His Week Four tally was a 44, hitting a 21 and a 23, respectively in his weekly effort. 

Lake Region State freshman Riley Stoe, also a Devils Lake High School product competing at Lake Region State College is the third Royals Athlete-of-the-Week nominee.  This past week Stoe notched 42 overall, Round 1 and Round 2 scores of 21.   

Next week, weather permitting, all twelve teams in the Conference will compete in the 2019 MCAC Clay Target Fall Championship, held in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on Tuesday, October 15.  Registration for the Fall Championships has yielded 221 participants.  New this year, the MCAC Fall Championships will feature Novice, Junior Varsity & Varsity levels of recognition. 

Clay Target is the fastest growing sport in the upper Midwest and around the county.  The Minnesota College Athletic Conference is proud to be the first varsity, two-year college athletic Conference to provide a platform for Clay Target teams and coaches.
