Two MCAC Standouts Tabbed NJCAA All-American

Two men's basketball student-athletes from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference have earned 2019-20 NJCAA Division III All-America honors, as announced Monday, April 6.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) named Rochester Community & Technical College sophomore Kong Kong, and Central Lakes College sophomore Tyree'on Johnson to the 2019-20 NJCAA Division III All-America squads. 

Kong Kong was named to the NJCAA First Team as he led RCTC to the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball National Championship; the Mankato, Minnesota product proved to be a force at both ends of the court for the YellowjacketsKong was second in the MCAC in rebounds-per-game at 10.8, and led the league in total boards with 346 on the year. He also was tops in blocked shots, with 56 rejections this past season. 

Tyree'on Johnson, a NJCAA Honorable Mention selection, led Central Lakes to the 2019-20 MCAC Northern Division title in impressive fashion, as the Raiders went 16-0 in Divisional play and were 24-5 overall. Johnson and CLC advanced to the 2019-20 NJCAA North Plains District semi-finals, where they fell 83-80 to RCTC.  The sophomore from Coon Rapids, Minnesota led the MCAC in field goal accuracy, hitting from the floor on 68.4% of his attempts.  Johnson averaged 17.1 points a contest, grabbed 212 total boards - including 85 offensive rebounds - good for second overall in that category.
