MCAC Weekly Softball Honors - Week of March 22-28

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has released its Softball Pitcher and Player-of-the-Week honors for the week of March 22-28.  Emma Bartholomew continues to rack up the wins for her Rochester Community and Technical College Yellowjackets and has earned her second straight MCAC South Division Pitcher-of-the-Week award.  St. Cloud Technical and Community College's Sam Knudson put together an outstanding week of offensive and defensive performances and has been named the MCAC South Division Player-of-the-Week.

Emma Bartholomew

1st Year / Pitcher

Rochester, MN

 

 

Emma Bartholomew, freshman pitcher from Rochester Community and Technical College, continues to showcase her talents each time she enters the pitching circle. After going 4-0 in her first week out as a collegiate athlete, Emma again went undefeated in her next three starts to raise her overall record to 7-0. She continues to blow past her opponents, striking out 26 batters through 18 innings in her 3 starts this past week. Emma allowed only 6 runs in those 3 games and is averaging 1.71 earned runs per game this season. 

Bartholomew is not only a defensive threat, but she also continues to demonstrate her power as a hitter.  In three games, the ace scored five times for her Yellowjackets, getting 4 hits and pounding one over the outfield fence.  Emma has been named the MCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for the South Division.

Rochester Community and Technical College returns to the field on Friday, April 2 at the RCTC Dome to play Milwaukee Area Technical College and Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

 

 

 

Sam Knudson

1st year / 2B

Monticello, MN

 

 

Claiming the MCAC South Division Softball Player-of-the-Week award is St. Cloud Technical and Community College's versatile freshman, Sam Knudson. In her first four games of her collegiate career, the Monticello, MN product managed to excel defensively at three different positions.  Taking the field at shortstop, second base, and center field, Knudson helped lead her team to a 2-2 record during the week. It wasn't just her defensive prowess that sparked her team as offensively she had 6 hits on 13 tries, earning a .462 batting average with 2 triples, a double, and 3 stolen bases.  She also drove in 4 runs and walked twice. 

St. Cloud Technical and Community College returns to the softball field on Friday, April 2 to take on Dakota County Technical College and Gogebic Community College in the RCTC Dome.
