Spencer Wright Earns National Pitcher-of-the-Week Award

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its National Player of the Week awards for the week of May 3-9, and Century College's Spencer Wright was named NJCAA Div. III Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week.

Wright, the Wood Ducks freshman pitcher hailing from White Bear Lake, MN, earned the honor after throwing a complete game 1-hitter in a 5-0 victory over Riverland Community College.  He also earned a victory in a 1-hit game against DCTC earlier in the week.  Wright struck out 18 in his twelve innings of work and gave up only two runs and two hits, while walking only 1, as he picked up his first two wins of the season. He is averaging over 13 strikeouts per game this season and leads the conference in shutout games.

During the two games, Wright hit for himself, going 5 for 7 with a home run and three doubles.

Century ended the regular season at 26-6 and 9-3 in the division and returns to the diamond on Friday in Game 3 of the Region XIII Baseball Tournament.
