The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports weekly awards for the week of January 29 - February 4.
Kalli Papenfuss, guard for Central Lakes College, scored 26 points and grabbed 26 rebounds en route to two wins for the Raiders, and she earned this week's MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Papenfuss shot 57.9% from the field and added six assists, six steals, and two blocks to her stat line for the week. Minnesota North College - Vermilion guard Quyavant Douglas shot 72.7% from the field and 50% from behind the 3-point arc to score 23 points and get another win for his Ironhawks team. Douglas pulled down 12 rebounds and had an assist in the win over Northland Community & Technical College earning this week's MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week honor.
Olivia Hayenga, guard for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, shot 44.4% from the field and scored 49 points in the Lady Jays' two convincing MCAC South Division wins during the week to earn the MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week. Hayenga also had 34 rebounds, 13 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocks, and she leads the MCAC in rebounds and blocks this season. Que Long, forward for Ridgewater College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award after scoring 39 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in his 61 minutes of action. Long assisted on four baskets and hit the game-winning shot against Western Technical College to help his Warriors team pick up two important MCAC South Division wins during the week.
