MCAC Baseball Teams Vying for Trip to Tennessee in '17

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The championship events committee of the NJCAA – the nation's premier governing body for two-year collegiate athletics – has announced the selection of Greeneville, Tennessee, as the host site for its upcoming Division III Baseball Championship scheduled for May 27 – June 1, 2017.

The eight-team double elimination tournament will take place at Pioneer Park in Greeneville, which is home of Tusculum College (NCAA DII) and the Greeneville Astros – the rookie league affiliate of the MLB Houston Astros.

"It is with great pleasure and honor that the Tourism Department and the Sports Council of the Greene County Partnership commits to hosting the 2017 NJCAA DIII Baseball Championship," stated Tammy Kinser, Tourism Director for the Greene County Partnership/Chamber of Commerce.  "Our community is well known for its hospitality and its commitment to excellence and we look forward to hosting the student athletes, coaches, fans and families and making their championship experience one to last a lifetime."  

The championship events committee will continue reviewing all proposals from prospective hosts for the 14 NJCAA Championships out for bid, including Greeneville's bid to host the DIII Baseball Championship for years 2018, 2019 and 2020. Final site selections will be made at the 2017 NJCAA Board of Directors Meeting to be held April 4-7 in Reno, Nevada.
