Central Lakes baseball pitcher Nik Gasner threw a great game on Friday, April 14 as the Raiders opened up Central Division play in the MCAC.  Unfortunately for Gasner and his CLC teammates, M State pitcher Tyler Anderson was just as good on the day, and the Spartans rode his equally strong pitching performance to a 1-0 game one victory.

Gasner scattered five hits over a seven inning complete game effort, allowing only a sole run in the top of the 5th inning.  The sophomore from Austin, Mn, struck out 6 batters and only walked one M State hitter. 

Anderson hurled a 7 inning gem for Minnesota State, conceding only four hits while striking out nine batters.  The shutout victory for Anderson spoke to his excellent control on the day, as he walked only two batters and never gave up more than one hit in a single inning over the course of the game.

Game two was a far more offensive affair, with Minnesota State completing the sweep with a 6-3 win. Both teams hit the ball well early on, as each team put up two runs in the first inning.  However, while CLC was held scoreless through the heart of the contest, M State added four more scores over the course of the 3rd, 4th and 6th innings.  The Raiders pulled back to within three with a run in the bottom of the sixth, but could not add more, leaving the Spartans to head to the bus with a 6-3 win, and the key MCAC Central two game sweep.

For Central Lakes in the second game, Gasner had a double and an RBI while Brady Moulzolf stole two bases.  Minnesota State saw Brandon Hill account for three runs batted in and Travis Krueger went the full seven innings to pick up the win.  Krueger conceded only five hits, and all three runs against him were earned.
