Central Division Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week

Rochester, Mn-

Minnesota State baseball pitcher Tyler Anderson has been awarded the MCAC Central Divsion Pitcher-of-the-Week honor, while St. Cloud Technical and Community College third baseman Matt Quade batted his way to Player-of-the-Week recognition.  Both student-athletes competed for their respective squads between April 10-16.

Quade was a force at the plate for the Cyclones in their two-game sweep of Northland CTC.  In the opener, Quade went 3-for-3, belting a home run and notching 4 RBI's.  He was nearly as effective in the nightcap, scoring a run himself and notching another RBI while going 1-for-3.  Quade and his SCTCC teammates are currently ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA poll.

Anderson found himself locked in a pitchers dual on Friday, April 15th with Central Lakes College hurler Nik Gasner, and the Spartan came out on the right side of a 1-0 shutout.  Against the Raiders, Anderson struck out nine batters while allowing only two walks and four hits.  With the shutout, Anderson help raise the M State Spartan's record to 2-0 in the MCAC and 7-6 overall.
