Cyclone Baseball Moves to #3 in National Poll

Rochester, Mn-

In the most recent NJCAA Division III National Baseball poll, the St. Cloud Technical and Community College Cyclone squad continues to climb the rankings ladder.

Coach Jason Fischer's team rose from the fifth spot over the past few rankings to the #3 rung in the current poll, thanks in large part to a double-header sweep over Northland Community & Technical College over the weekend.  The 8-4 and 4-2 victories for SCTCC added to their recent momentum, as they have won 10 straight and head into important MCAC fixtures with Minnesota State-Fergus Fall and Central Lakes College later this week.

From the batter's box, Matt Quade leads the team with a .439 batting average, and an amazing .818 slugging percentage.  The freshman infielder has hit three home runs so far this season, tallied 31 RBI's and leads his team in plate appearances with 66.

On the mound, Jonathan Sodergren and Ricardo Garcia - both sophomores- have each appeared in 6 games on the year.  Sodergren has earned 4 wins in his 30 innings pitched and Garcia has accounted for five victories, including three complete-game performances.  The duo has combined for 61 strikeouts, while only conceding 10 walks apiece.
