Rochester, Mn--
Three Minnesota College Athletic Conference baseball student-athletes have been named MCAC Players-of-the-Week for May 2-8.
In the Central Division, Brock Saparto put together a strong four-game performance in double headers against M-State Fergus Falls and Ridgewater College for the Northland Community & Technical College Pioneers. NCTC went 3-1 over those four contests, with Saparto going 6-for-11, stealing a base, cracking a home run and driving in four runs. Contributing in both the outfield and as the DH for his squad over the course of the week, Saparto has hit - and run- his way to the Central POW honor.
In the Southern Division, Anoka - Ramsey Community College's Jake Hansen currently sits 13th nationally with a .452 batting average in NJCAA Division III play. Also a pitcher, Hansen has contributed on the mound for the Golden Rams of late, including a 7-3 over Riverland Community College. Hansen reached base successfully in all but one of ARCC's Southern Division games over the week, racking up 6 hits along the way.
Finally, in the Northern Division, Itasca Community College's Raheim Hampton joined his teammates in a marathon week of MCAC play, with league double-headers every day between May 4-7. Over the eight contests, Hampton tallied 7 hits, 5 RBI's, seven runs scored himself - and most importantly - helped lead ICC to a 7-1 week. The sophomore from Richfield and his ICC Vikings take to the field against Hibbing CC on Friday at 3pm to begin MCAC North post-season play.
