Several baseball teams across the Minnesota College Athletic Conference are using the spring break in classes to get in some early season work as they prepare for the MCAC Baseball Season. Three student-athletes stood out among their peers in the first weeks of competition and have recognized as MCAC Baseball Players-of-the-Week for their efforts.

NORTHERN DIVISION Outfield |
Isaac Rodriguez, a center fielder from Itasca Community College, has been a force on the basepaths and at the plate for the Vikings. In 25 plate appearances through Saturday, March 10, Rodriquez has tallied 11 hits, including a double. Along with hitting for a .440 average this week, the sophomore from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic has stolen five bases so far in 2018. Rodriquez and his ICC teammates will head back to Minnesota from Tucson, Arizona this week. They are next scheduled to play at Bismarck, North Dakota, where they will face Dawson CC and Bismarck State College in the Ben Berg Classic. |

Kristian Garcia, a freshman, from Las Vegas, Nevada, got his Raider career off to a strong start for the week ending Sunday, March 11. At the plate over the course of two games, Garcia went 3-for-7, with three RBI's and pair of home runs. He accounted for three of the CLC runs in the two wins, a 4-3 triumph over the JV team of Mayville State University and a 10-7 win over California Miramar University. Central Lakes and Garcia will continue their spring break trip with contests in Tucson, Arizona against several NJCAA Division II and NCAA 4-year JV team opponents. |

SOUTHERN DIVISION Pitcher |
In his first outing of the 2018 spring baseball season, Golden Ram pitcher AJ Overton struck out six of the 14 batters he faced in his team's 9-2 victory over University of Wisconsin-Barron County. In a contest played at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Overton picked up the win for ARCC with three innings of solid work. He conceded just two hits and no earned runs, while throwing 30 pitches for strikes among the 43 he tossed on the day. Overton did not walk a batter in the contest. Anoka-Ramsey will face several NJCAA Division II programs and handful of four-year college JV squads as they travel to Tucson, Arizona for spring break baseball action. |
