Cyclones Conclude Season at World Series

Rochester, MN-

The St. Cloud Technical & Community College baseball team saw their season come to end on Monday, May 28 with a 7-6 loss to Rockingham Community College in a consolation second round game at the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series at Pioneer Park in Greeneville, Tennessee.

SCTCC finishes 2018 with a 20-9 overall record, including a 8-1 mark in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Central Division and a 5-3 post-season record accrued across the NJCAA Regional and National Championship tournaments.  The Cyclones won both the MCAC Central Division regular season title and the MCAC State / NJCAA Region XIII tournament crown. 

Against Rockingham, SCTCC faced a strong effort on the mound by Cejay Chaporro, who scattered five Cyclone hits over six full innings for RCC before being relieved by Chase Revier, who came on to close the door in the seventh.  For the St. Cloud Technical & Community College, Christian Delgado tossed five innings, before giving way to Keegan Lessard and Cole Wellman to close out the contest.  Overall, the SCTCC hurlers conceded 11 hits and four walks, while combining to strikeout five Rockingham hitters. 

Offensively, SCTCC was led by Jose Rosario, who had a pair of RBI's and Nathan Pereira, who was 1-for-2 at the plate with a run scored and a run batted in on the day.  Rosaio, Matt Quade and Zach Fuecker all collected doubles for St. Cloud in the contest. 

Rockingham advances to play Rowan-Gloucester, while Tyler (TX) Junior College and Oakton will square off as the other two remaining teams.
