Pitcher & Player-of-the-Week

Alfonso Pesqueira

Alfonso Pesqueira, a freshman at Rainy River Community College has been tabbed the MCAC Northern Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending April 28. 

The Tucson, Arizona product hit for a .647 average, going 11-for-17 at the plate for the Voyageurs. He scored seven runs, had 10 RBI's and knocked three doubles.  In addition to drawing a walk, Pesqueira stole five bases on the basepaths. 

Rainy River Community College will face off against Northland Community & Technical College on Wednesday, May 1 in a 2pm/4pm double-header. 

 Joey Fracek

Ft. Myers, FL

Joey Fracek, a freshman pitcher from Ft. Myers, Florida at Hibbing Community College has earned Pitcher-of-the-Week status in the MCAC Northern Division for the week ending April 28. 

Fracek picked up two wins for the Cardinals in a key divisional week of play. He went the distance for the win on Wednesday against Vermilion and returned to the mound Sunday in a 6-inning effort over Mesabi Range College. In 13 innings pitched, Fracek scattered 10 hits and only walked three batters. He was credited with 12 strike-outs combined in the two games. 

Hibbing next plays against Rainy River Community College in a four-game series beginning on Saturday, May 4th. 

MCAC Southern Division 

Pitcher & Player-of-the-Week

Tucker Sorenson

Worthington, MN

Tucker Sorenson a sophomore pitcher at Minnesota West CTC has earned the Southern Division Pitcher-of-the-Week award for the week ending April 29. 

The Worthington, Minnesota product tossed a complete-game three-hitter for a key Divisional BlueJay win.  In the shutout, he only walked two while striking out five.  Sorenson's command of his pitches resulted in his infield turning three double-plays and one triple-play on the day. 

Sorenson has had three wins in his past three starts; Minnesota West plays the JV team at Dordt College and RCTC this week. 

Brad Barkema

Conrad, IA

Brad Barkema, a freshman catcher at Rochester Community & Technical College has earned the MCAC Southern Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending April 28. 

The Conrad (IA) product produced seven hits and five RBI's in 19 Yellowjacket at-bats.  His hit tally included a pair of doubles and he drew four walks as well. Barkema was equally impressive defensively, recording 24 put-outs and three assists from behind the plate. 

RCTC will face Minnesota West CTC on Wednesday, May 1 in Worthington. 

MCAC Central Division 

Player & Pitcher-of-the-Week

Jake Dykhoff

Wadena, MN

Jake Dykhoff, a freshman at M State-Fergus Falls has earned the MCAC Central Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending April 28. 

The Wadena, Minnesota was solid at the plate, going 10-for-21 with two home runs and 12 total RBI's.  He stole a base in his only attempt on the week and drew an impressive eight walks to set the plate for teammates.  On the mound, Dykhoff picked up a win for the Spartans in two appearances, racking up 15 strikeouts while only walking one batter on the week. 

M State will see Ridgewater College, Mesabi Range and Central Lakes this week. 

Yadiel Rolon

Cidra, Puerto Rico

Yadiel Rolon, a freshman at St. Cloud Technical & Community College has been tabbed the MCAC Central Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending April 28. 

Rolon contributed two complete games to the Cyclone effort, notching an impressive 1.50 ERA over that time. Rolon scattered nine hits in 12 innings, striking out nine and conceding only two earned runs. 

SCTCC moves to 19-5 on the year and will face Central Lakes College on Wednesday, May 1.
