M State Hires Fry as Football Coach

Korey Fry has been named head football coach for the Spartans of Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

Fry, a native of Detroit, was a student athlete at M State's Fergus Falls campus from 2006 to 2008 and transferred to Bemidji State University, where he earned bachelor's degrees in sports management and exercise science. At M State, Fry was MCAC All-American in 2007, Junior College Football Defensive Player of the Year in 2007 and Student Senate president.

Fry has extensive football coaching experience as strength and conditioning coach for the Bemidji High School Lumberjacks from 2009 to 2012, head junior varsity coach and defensive coordinator for Southfield Lathrup High School in Michigan from 2012 to 2013, and as M State defensive coordinator from 2014 to the present.

"Korey Fry's enthusiasm, energy and experience are impressive, and he is very qualified as a coach to lead our program," said M State Dean of Academic Affairs Gary Henrickson.

Fry works as the sports director and wellness coach at the Fergus Falls Family YMCA, and he and his wife, Mary, have two children, son Kadyn and daughter Alayah.
