Rochester Community & Technical College running back Cazz Martin has been named the MCAC Eastern Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week  for his part in the Yellowjacket 46-24 victory over Vermilion Community College on Saturday.

Martin ran for 184 yards on only 15 carries, averaging 12.3 yards a rush.  He scored a touchdown and had a longest run of 32 yards.

In addition, Martin led his team in catches with four receptions on the day.  The sophomore from Rochester accounted for 196 yards of RCTC offense against the Ironmen.

Rochester will face Mesabi Range College at home on Saturday, October 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 2pm.

For the second time in two weeks, Rochester Community & Technical College football player Juan Martinez has been tabbed Special Teams Player-of-the-Week in the MCAC Eastern Division. 

Martinez was 2-for-3 in field goals against Vermilion Community College, including a 38 yard effort. He was also 4-of-6 on PAT's and accounted for 10 of RCTC's 46 points against VCC. 

RCTC will host Mesabi Range College on Saturday, October 6 with kickoff scheduled for 2pm.

Anthony King, a sophomore defensive lineman at Central Lakes College, has been named MCAC Eastern Division Player-of-the-Week on defense. 

King was the leader of a Raider defense which halted the winning streak of #17 Mesabi Range with a 31-16 Central Lakes victory.  He had four tackles-for-loss on the day, including two sacks. Five of his eight tackles were solo stops; he also accounted for a safety against the Norsemen as a part of a 15-0 first half scoring surge by Central Lakes.  

King's all-around effort allowed coach Greg Medeck to collect his 100th win while also setting CLC alone atop the Eastern Division standings at 3-0 so far on the year.

Central Lakes will face Eastern Division foe Itasca Community College on Saturday, October 6. Kickoff is set for 1:30pm.

Notable Performances in the Eastern Division:

FDLTCC quarterback Armani Ceballos threw for 288 yards, completing 23-of-42 passes against Itasca.  La Darin McAllister led the Thunder in receiving yards, with 94 while Trebian Suggs and Antonio Morrell had 87 and 81 yards, repsectivley. Dondre White amassed 98 yards on five kickoff returns.  Defensively, Jonathan Turrentine returned an interception for a touchdown and Armand Keely and Dawayne Hearns both had six tackles. 

Ny'Travious Barkley had a strong outing running the football, collecting 154 yards on 22 carries and scoring a touchdown.  Kevin Shuler added 69 yards and a score on the ground.  Connor Cusick hit a 32-yard field goal and was 1-of-2 on PAT's for the Norsemen special teams unit. Avery Brown returned a pair of kickoffs for 49 total yards, including a 37-yard longest effort. On defense, MRC was led by Sam Okuayinonu with 8 tackles and James Smith had an interception. Shawn Smith collected a sack on the day as well for Mesabi Range. 

Cameron Strapp had nine tackles for Itasca in it's win over Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College, while Sam Moberg added eight. Maleek Davis had five stops and two pass break-ups for the Vikings.  Ranadree Bradley returned a fumble 27 yards and had 1.5 sacks on the day.  On offense, Mitchell Miller was 10-for-23, netting 260 yards in the air.  He passed for a pair of touchdowns, both to D'Monta Harris, who had four catches and 173 total yards. Enrico Francato was a perfect 6-for-6 on PAT attempts. Joshua Booker and Jesse Sherwood combined for 102 yards on the ground.  

Central Lakes student-athlete Gabriel Magalei had 11 total tackles on Saturday, including 1.5 sacks. He also forced a fumble.  Isaak Hines returned a fumble 63 yards for the Raiders and Marnez Trotter had an interception.  On offense, CLC was led by Nyassinu Crowell with a 118 yards and a touchdown, while Ridge Reed had 58 yards on 16 carries. Jake Franklin and Dan Griep combined for 166 passing yards while Jack Quaal chipped in a 23-yard field goal and two PATs on the day. 

Devan Madron had 10 tackles for Vermilion agasint RCTC on Saturday; his stops included a sack and two tackles behind the line of scrimmage.  Rommel Reynolds had an interception for the Ironmen.  On offense, Breon Jackson was 14-of-30 passing, for a 185 yards and three scores. Keylan Chapman was the leading VCC ball carrier with 68 yards on eight attempts.  Oscar Lopez hauled in five catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Lipheteson Pierre returned four kickoffs and one punt for a total of 113 yards. 

Benjamin Thompson rushed for an impressive 130 yards and scored three times for Rochester CTC. Trey Johnson had a pair of kickoff returns for total of 45 yards, while on defense, Anthony Harper returned a interception for a Yellowjacket touchdown.  Jamel Smith collected 11 tackles and forced two fumbles; he also had a pass interception against VCC. Jevonte Howard had the longest interception return of the day with 55-yard pick and return for Rochester.
