Player-of-the-Week, Offense

 

Jaylen Wilson

Jaylen Wilson - a freshman running back from Detroit, Michigan - has earned the MCAC Western Division Player-of-the-Week award on offense for his performance in the Dakota College-Bottineau 48-26 triumph over Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College on Saturday. 

Wilson ran 31 times for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns. His longest rush was a 19 yard effort and he averaged 6.0 yards per touch against the Thunder. 

Dakota College-Bottineau will travel to in-state rival North Dakota State College of Science for a MCAC football post-season contest on Sunday, October 28.  Game time is set for 1:30pm in Wahpeton, ND.

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                              

MCAC Western Division 

Player-of-the-Week, Defense

Cornell Washington

Cornell Washington,  a MnWest freshman defensive back from Harvey, Illinois, has been named the MCAC Player-of-the-Week on defense in the Western Division. 

Washington had three interceptions on the day against the Ironmen, including one returned 38 yards for a touchdown. He also added a tackle for the BlueJays, as they prevailed 41-8 over Vermilion Community College

MnWest and Washington will travel to Northland CTC for a 1:30pm kickoff on Sunday, October 28 in the first round of the MCAC Football playoffs.

Special Teams Player-of-the-Week

Caleb Tinklenberg

Pipestone, MN 

Caleb Tinklenberg continued his double-duty for Minnesota West CTC this past week, lining up at quarterback while also handling the kicking duties for the BlueJays. 

Tinklenberg was five-of-six on PAT's for Minnesota West and hit three kickoffs for a total of 188 yards and one touchback.  He averaged 62.7 yards a kickoff, while also going 17-of-38 passing for 227 yards and a score. 

Minnesota West and Tinlenberg will travel to Northland CTC for a 1:30pm kickoff on Sunday, October 28 in the first round of the MCAC Football playoffs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Notable Performances in the Western Division:

        

MnWest running backs Darrick Gardner and Khaileb Desmond combined for 117 yards on the ground for the BlueJays while Reginald Colson III had four catches for 82 yards and a touchdown.  Colson also had a 26 yard kickoff return while teammate Montrez Hearon turned in a 47 return effort of his own. Beau Priegnitz led the Minnesota West defensive unit with nine tackles. 

 

Lucas Maloney had six catches, leading all receivers in the contest, while Mykhal Chavis had almost 60 yards rushing and touchdown. Caleb Brate was 1-for-1 on PAT's, hit six punts, placing two inside the 20 and cracked two kickoffs for a 51.0 average.  Ce'zaun Enge and Curtis Edwards both had interceptions and Lewis Jackson racked up 12 tackles. 

 

DeAndre Holmes had a 99-yard interception return for a score, while Abdul Bangura had a pair of kickoff returns for 35 yards total.  Isaiah Dennis-McLean also had an interception and Lenard Cribbs led the 'Jacks with seven tackles.  In the kicking department, Alex Knoebel was two-for-two on PAT's, hit seven kickoffs for 385 total yards and two touchbacks.  QB Jackson Argoe had 56 yards rushing and two touchdowns while also adding 57 yards passing. 

 

 

Marshaun Jones led NDSCS with eight tackles, while Nyheim Tucker had an interception against Mesabi Range College.  Grant Brown had a 65-yard kickoff return and three punt returns for the Wildcats.  Marcus Hill led the receiving corps with five catches for 55 total yards.  Prince Kruah and Kingston Myles combined for 167 rushing yards on the day to pace the Wildcat ground attack.

 

Quarterback Craig Wells passed for 290 yards and ran for 146 more, finding the end-zone twice for the Pioneers.  Kalel Grant had seven catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns, with a longest grab of 68 yards. On defense, Tristin Murrin continued his record-setting pace with 15 total stops and was joined in double-digits by teammates Marquavious McCatty and Jonas Dorvil, with 14 and 11 total tackles, repsectivley. Justin Murray returned a goal-line interception 100 yards for a score and Misheal Amoah had a pick for the Pioneers as well.
