MCAC Football Playoffs: Players-of-the-Week

With the football teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference pared down to eight squads to begin the playoffs this past Sunday, MCAC Football Players-of-the-Week selections are named in each of the three categories (Offense, Defense, Special Teams), regardless of Division.   For more information on the MCAC semi-final round of playoffs, originally released on Monday, October 29, click here.

Defensive Player-of-the-Week

Darryl Munoz

Mesabi Range College defensive back Darryl Munoz had two interceptions against Itasca Community College, including one returned for a touchdown, which proved to be the difference in the playoff contest. For his efforts, Munoz is the MCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week in football. 

Mesabi Range dealt ICC a 20-14 setback and Munoz had a great day in the secondary, collecting two picks, three solo tackles and a tackle-for-loss.  The Norsemen, currently 'Receiving Votes' in the NJCAA Top 20 poll, will take their show on the road next Sunday, November 4 when they travel to Thief River Falls for a MCAC semi-final game against Northland Community & Technical College.

Special Teams Player-of-the-Week

Spencer Skeesick

Fr. / Placekicker

Moses Lake, WA

Spencer Skeesick, a placekicker at North Dakota State College of Science, has earned the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honor for his role in a 45-15 Wildcat win on Sunday over rival Dakota College-Bottineau. 

Skeesick didn't miss a kick in the first-round victory, going a perfect 5-for-5 on PAT's, and hitting two field goals on two attempts for NDSCS.  His field goals included a 23 yard effort at the end of the first half, sending his team into the locker room on a score.  On kickoffs, Skeesick hit eight kicks for a total of 465 yards, including two touchbacks on the day.

Skeesick and NDSCS will head to Brainerd, Minnesota on Sunday, November 4 to take on Central Lakes College in the MCAC semifinals at 1:30pm.

Offensive Player-of-the-Week

Kingston Myles 

So. / Running Back

St. Paul, MN

 

Kingston Myles, a running back at North Dakota State College of Science from St. Paul, Minnesota and Tartan High School, has earned Offensive Player-of-the-Week for his work in a 45-15 win for NDSCS over DCB on Sunday. 

On just 12 carries, the sophomore picked up 119 yards rushing against the 'Jack defense.  Myles averaged 9.9 yards a carry, with a longest run of 45 yards and one touchdown.  

With the win, NDSCS advances to the MCAC semi-finals, where they will take on Central Lakes College this Sunday, November 4 at 1:30pm.

The winners of Saturday's semi-finals will advance to play in the MCAC State Championship Game in St. Cloud, Minnesota on the campus of St. Cloud State University.  Kickoff is set for noon at Husky Stadium.
