Central Lakes College - a traditional power in Minnesota College Athletic Conference football ranks - recently was featured for their work with three student-athletes who are members of their Raider gridiron team and serve as role models for Native American students.
Hunter Powless and Brennan Corbine hail from Ashland Wisconsin, where they were teammates at Ashland High School. Ashland neighbors the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe Reservation in Odanah, Wisconsin. Central Lakes defensive lineman Adam Davis is a member of the Cherokee Nation and is a graduate of Hulbert High School in Hulbert, Oklahoma.
Central Lakes Interim Head Coach Robb Kolodeziej and CLC Dean of Students Mary Sam both cite the importance that athletics plays in the part of recruiting and mentoring young men from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life.

Earlier this year, ESPN College Football reported on the amazing path followed by Taqarius (T.Q.) Wair, a running back at Mesabi Range College who suffered debilitating burns in a house fire as a child.
