Men's Basketball Players-of-the-Week / NJCAA National Poll

As men's basketball teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference wind down 2017 and head into the holiday break, some notable performances have led to both individual Player-of-the-Week honors and a MCAC team continues to be recognized for a strong first half to the season. 

Rochester Community & Technical College is among the colleges 'Receiving Votes' in the NJCAA Top 10 rankings for the week ending on December 17.   The Yellowjackets defeated Vermilion Community College 92-89 and Mesabi Range College 79-59 over the weekend on the road and dispatched the JV team of Bethany Lutheran College at home on Monday.

This week's poll in the NJCAA is the final list of 2017, as the committee will take a break until after the New Year with January 9 slated for the next ranking. 

Northern Division Player-of-the-Week honors goes to Davarius Wright a sophomore forward at Rainy River Community College who led his Voyaguer squad to a pair of home wins over St. Cloud Technical and Community College and M State.  The Southern Division Player-of-the-Week is Kevin Schramm of Anoka-Ramsey Community College who had a red-hot shooting hand in a pair of Golden Ram wins.

Davarius Wright a sophomore forward for Rainy River Community College has been tabbed as the MCAC Northern Division Player-of-the-Week in men's basketball. 

Wright, from Minneapolis, averaged a double-double over the weekend in a pair of victories. He shot 53% from the field, resulting in a 19.5 point per game average.  Wright also averaged 10.5 boards per outing and had three blocks in both contests. 

Davarius Wright and his Rainy River teammates are back in action January 3 when they face Lake Region State College at 7pm in Devils Lake, North Dakota.

The Anoka-Ramsey Golden Rams cruised to a pair of wins this past weekend and sophomore forward Kevin Schramm was key to their success. 

The Roseville product averaged 25.5 points over two contests, including hitting at 50% from behind the three-point line at 8-of-16.  He also averaged four assists and hauled in 8.5 rebounds per game.  Schramm shot 62% from the field (21-of-34). 

The Southern Division Player-of-the-Week and his ARCC teammates are off until early January when they will take on Dakota County Technical College on January 5.
