Players-of-the-Week in Men's Basketball Honored

A pair of top-level performances on the hardwood have earned two men's basketball student-athletes Players-of-the-Week honors in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference for the week ending on January 28. 

                   

Anthony Mera

     Rainy River Community College                  

Rainy River freshman forward Anthony Mera played a major role in wins against Fond du Lac and Central Lakes College and collects his first MCAC Northern Division Player-of-the-Week award for his efforts.

The Miami, Florida product averaged 21.5ppg in the two victories, while also grabbing five boards per contest and dishing out 3.5 assists.  Mera shot 16-of-27 (59%) from the field, including 6-of-10 from beyond the arc.  He was also 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the charity stripe. 

Mera and Rainy River are currently one of three teams which sit atop the Northern Division standings at 5-1 in league play.  RRCC is 13-5 overall so far in 2017-18.               

 

   

Kevin Schramm 

Sophomore

     Anoka-Ramsey Community College          

Kevin Schramm collects his third MCAC South Player-of-the-Week in the 2017-18 campaign after a strong week in both the scoring and rebounding stats columns for Anoka-Ramsey. 

Schramm had 17 rebounds in the ARCC win over RCTC on Saturday, while chipping in four assists and turning in a 100% performance from the foul line, knocking down 10-of-10 free throws. Against Minnesota West CTC,  Schramm led his team with 22 points, eight boards and four assists.  

Anoka-Ramsey and RCTC are tied at 5-1 in the MCAC Southern Division standings; ARCC will face Ridgewater College and Western Technical College in the upcoming week's slate of MCAC contests.
