MCAC Basketball Players-of-the-Week

Several super performances were on display over the course of last week in men's basketball around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference

In a pair of key MCAC Northern Division contests,  Dorian Nesmith (Mesabi Range College) put together two balanced outings for the Norsemen.  In MCAC Southern Division men's hoops action, Jace Klinkner (Riverland Community College) was lighting up the scoreboard for the Blue Devils.   The Mesabi Range College and Riverland Community College student-athletes were named Players-of-the-Week for the week ending February 4.  

     

Dorian Nesmith

Mesabi Range College    

Dorian Nesmith had an outstanding performance last week for the Mesabi Range College Norsemen.  The freshman forward averaged 26.5 points per game while grabbing 15 rebounds per contest. 

Nesmith also chipped in five assists and five blocks between the two games. Against league-leading Rainy River,  Dorian scored 25 points, collected 20 rebounds and had four steals.  In a key MCAC Northern Division win over Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College,  Nesmith tallied 28 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out four assists. 

Mesabi Range will face Central Lakes College and Itasca Community College this week. 

 

                  

Jace Klinkner

Sophomore 

Forward 

Riverland Community College       

Riverland sophomore forward,Jace Klinkner, had a big week for the Blue Devils.  Klinkner averaged 32.5 PPG while shooting 53% FG (24-of-45) from the field.  Klinker was an impreseive 48% from beyond the arc (11-of-23) and was equally adept from the foul line where he went 6-of-7 over two games.  Additionally, Klinkner also contributed 13 total rebounds, eight assists and five steals across the two contests. 

Klinker and Riverland will take on Anoka-Ramsey Community College and St. Cloud Technical and Community College this week.
