MnWest Cinderella Run Continues

Rochester, Mn-

The Cinderella run continues for the men's basketball team of Minnesota West CTC, as the #4 seed Blue Jays knock off another MCAC foe on Saturday.  MnWest handed Rochester CTC a 85-80 loss to advance to the title game on Sunday.

Minnesota West received 32 points from Alex Brown to lead the way, while Ki'Shawn Syph had 23 points and 7 rebounds.  Brown was almost perfect from the charity stripe (6-of-7) and was 10-of-18 from the field.  The Blue Jay win propels them to 18-11 overall and to the MCAC / NJCAA Region XIII title game tomorrow at 3pm.

For RCTC, Jumah'Ri Turner had a 43 point performance, with 14-of-25 shooting from the field and a 8-for-8 touch at the free throw line.  No other Yellowjacket reached double-digits in points, with Tyree Caruthers grabbing nine boards and dishing out 3 assists. Rochester concludes its season at 23-6.

In 2016-17 RCTC put together a great run in Coon Rapids to play their way from a #4 seed to the title game, where they fell to ARCC, 100-83.  This year, Minnesota West will look to go one better, needing only to knock off the winner of Vermilion and Anoka-Rasmey to book a trip to the 2018 NJCAA National Championship Tournament in Loch Sheldrake, New York, March 15-17.

Tomorrow's championship game will tip off at 3pm on the Coon Rapids campus of Anoka-Ramsey Community College.  The third-place contest begins at 1pm.
