The first of two weekends of basketball featuring competition between the Northern and Southern Divisions in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference has produced two Player-of-the-Week awards and several notable performances from around the MCAC.

Austin Miller So. / Guard Big Lake, MN

M State-Fergus Falls reeled off three successive victories this past week and the play of Austin Miller was key to their success. The Big Lake, Minnesota product scored 86 points over three games for the Spartans, including a game-winning three pointer with four ticks on the clock to down Northland. In addition to his scoring prowess, Miller grabbed 19 rebounds and dished out 10 assists over the course of the week. Miller and M State-Fergus Falls will face NCTC and Itasca on the road this weekend for the second round of MCAC Crossover play.

Amaun Ryan Fr. / Guard Kansas City, MO
|
Hibbing Community College guard Amaun Ryan (Fr. / Kansas City, MO) put in a full week's worth of work in three games for the Cardinal's. In 90 minutes of action for HCC, Ryan collected 68 points, including a 24-for-48 shooting performance from the floor. He was 9-of-21 from behind the arc and grabbed 9 rebounds. Ryan also dished out 12 assists, had five steals and blocked a shot. Hibbing and Ryan will face Rochester CTC and Western Technical College this weekend in the second round of the MCAC Crossover weekend.

Notable Performances from Around the MCAC:
Anoka-Ramsey Community College: The Golden Rams picked up two wins in Crossover action and were led by Nashiem Lozier in a win over FDLTCC, as he grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and chipped in ten points. Steven Colon added 17 points against the Thunder and Justin Castro had a 24-point night in a victory over Central Lakes.
Central Lakes College: The Raiders went 1-1 over the weekend and were paced by Chris Buckley who had 17 points against Anoka-Ramsey and scored 22 in a win over NJCAA Division II Gogebic. TJ Kornbaum hit for 27 points against the Golden Rams while also grabbing 10 rebounds and a pair of steals in the game. Malik Kelly dished out 13 assist over the two games.
Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College: The Thunder saw Kevin Bryant score 35 of his teams' 54 points at Anoka-Ramsey on Friday night, while Dijuan McCullom grabbed six boards in the game. Bryant had another 23 points on Saturday against Riverland, while Roderick Washington produced a balanced stat line of 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks for FDL.
Hibbing Community College: Amaun Ryan and David Faitha both beat the 20-point mark vs. Ridgewater, with Ryan hitting for 24 and Faitha netting 22; Northern Division POW Ryan had 68 total points for the week. Daniel Warren had 19 points and nine boards against Mesabi Range and Deng Deng came off the bench for another 12. Jaylen Williams added a 18-point / eight rebound night for the Cardinals against the Norsemen.
Itasca Community College: The Vikings beat Western Tech behind the play of Devonte Morgan, who had 26 points and nine rebounds. Torez Kinchen added 21 points and also had nine boards. Morgan added another 24 points to his weekend total at Rochester while also dishing out four assists. Morgan was 10-of-18 from the field against the Yellowjackets.
Lake Superior College: The Icehawks went 1-1 in Crossover play and notched the programs first home win in a 89-38 contest with Gogebic. Andre Jenkins was solid in both contests for LSC, scoring 25 points against Riverland and another 13 vs. Gogebic. He also collected four steals for his squad while teammate Paul LaGrande had 36 points between the two games and was 9-of-11 on free throws vs. RCC. In the home-opening win, Jarves Hunt dished out five assists and had three steals.
Mesabi Range College: The Norseman saw Bryce Hempel notch 12 points and grab six rebounds against SCTCC; Hempel had another 12 boards in their contest vs. M State-Fergus Falls. Calvin Lee was a perfect 6-for-6 on free throws on his way to 12 points against the Spartans; he also snagged eight rebounds. William Howard hit for 14 points against the Cyclones.
M State-Fergus Falls: The Spartans put together a three-win week last week, beating Northland, Vermilion and Mesabi Range, all at home in Fergus Falls. Southern Division Player-of-the-Week Austin Miller scored 86 points over that stretch, while teammate Aaron Solberg produced a double-double in their opening game and had three blocks against MRC. Samuel Priem had 13 points against Mesabi and Terrance (TJ) Martin contributed 16 vs. Vermilion.
Minnesota West CTC: The BlueJays put together a solid weekend, sweeping Rainy River and Hibbing. Deshawn Pickford continues his high-scoring ways, with 15 points and eight rebounds against HCC and another 21 vs. Rainy River. Jaimon Cheek led MnWest with 27 points and 10 boards on Friday; he also had a pair of steals. Emmanuel Akot contributed a eight-rebound, nine point performance as well.
Northland Community & Technical College: The Pioneers dropped a pair of MCAC games on the road but Z'Mari Minter had 32 points on the weekend, along with 18 rebounds and seven steals. Teammate Ibrahim Nasir scored 15 points on Western Tech while John Brooks had 13 points in the same outing. Nasir also hit double digits with 10 points against Rochester.
Rainy River Community College: The Voyageurs collected a win and a loss last week, falling to MnWest but beating Ridgewater. Trey Jones had 42 points over the two games, along with ten assists. Cedrick Harris added 19 points for the RRCC effort in Worthington, along with an impressive 14 rebounds vs. the BlueJays. Cedrick Harris had 12 points to go with six rebounds as well.
Ridgewater College: The Warriors split their opening Crossover contests, defeating Hibbing but falling to Rainy River, both at home. In their win, Ridgewater saw Niko Oliver score 20 points and Sam Olson contribute 19 to the Warrior effort. Travis Visser was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor and hauled in an impressive 16 rebounds. Visser had another 13 boards on Saturday, as did Jadaunte Sutton; Sutton also had 16 points in that game.
Riverland Community College: The Blue Devils continued their winning ways in the MCAC Crossover last week, being both Lake Superior College and FDLTCC. Izzy Holmes Jr. paced Riverland with 38 points combined in the two victories. Deandre Raggs scored 21 against the Thunder and Jared Landherr had three steals while going a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line against FDLTCC.
Rochester Community & Technical College: The Yellowjackets picked up two wins last week and were led by DaMichael Brown who had 33 points for RCTC for the weekend. Kong Kong hauled in 16 rebounds and Eddie Oyet grabbed 17 boards between both games. Brown is currently third in the MCAC in field goal percentage at 65.3%.
St. Cloud Technical & Community College: The Cyclones pushed their record to 6-0 for the season with a pair of wins. SCTCC saw Dillon Haider tally 31 points in the two wins. Keshawn Sutton led all scorers in the SCTCC victory over Mesabi Range with 20. Sutton in second in the MCAC in rebounds per game at 10.4 per contest and Eric Racine is third in 3-point percentage, connecting 56.5% of the time from behind the arc.
Vermilion Community College: Maurice Carter paced the Ironmen against M State Fergus Falls with 17 points off the bench and Curtis Bell grabbed 16 total boards in VCC's two games. David Monell had 17 points against SCTCC.
Western Technical College: Joe Georgeson had 25 points over two games coming off the bench for WTC, while Kadar Farah grabbed 16 rebounds in the two contests. Andrew Scott had 12 boards against Itasca. Jason Gurholt also collected 25 points combined for the Cavaliers.
