Daniel Warren, a sophomore guard at Hibbing Community College, has been tabbed the Northern Division Player-of-the-Week in MCAC men's basketball.

The Peoria, Illinois product scored 62 points over two Cardinal contests this past week, shooting 25-for-47 from the floor.  Warren had 18 points worth of three-pointers for the weekend and hauled in an impressive 13 rebounds per game.  He also had two assists and a block, while also going 6-of-8 from the foul line. Hibbing fell to RCTC 80-76 and beat Western Tech, 85-79. 

Warren and Hibbing are next in action on Friday, December 14 when they play at Rainy River Community College to open up MCAC Northern Division play.  Tipoff is at 7:30pm. 

MCAC Southern Division

Player-of-the-Week

Deandre Anderson

Deandre Anderson, a freshman guard at Riverland Community College, has been tabbed as the MCAC Southern Division Player-of-the-Week. 

Anderson, from Milwaukee, tallied 49 points in 60 minutes of work in a pair of Blue Devil wins over Vermilion Community College (84-68) and Mesabi Range College (83-65). He was 16-of-36 from the floor, including 8-of-18 from three point territory.  Anderson also was 9-of-10 from the foul line, dished out four assists and accumulated 5 steals over the weekend. 

Anderson helped the Blue Devils raise their record to 9-1 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in MCAC Crossover action.  Riverland is scheduled to play Rainy River Community College in a neutral-site contest on Friday, December 21 at Central Lakes College. 

WESTERN TECHNICAL COLLEGE: Western fell to Rainy River and Hibbing over the weekend,  but Western had Mhalik Lindsey score 32 total points, coming off the bench in both games.   Kadar Farah averaged 11.0 points per game and had eight rebounds against Hibbing; Joe Georgeson also hauled in nine boards against the Cardinals.  

VERMILION COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Vermilion suffered a pair of losses over the weekend to Anoka-Ramsey and Riverland.  Against ARCC, Curtis Bell had 20 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.  David Monell led the Ironmen with 21 points and Reggie Rogers contributed eight boards and seven assists.  

ST. CLOUD TECHNICAL & COMMUNITY COLLEGE:  The Cyclones went 2-0 in Crossover play, raising their 2018-19 mark to 8-0.    Against Itasca, Eric Racine scored 24 off the bench and was 13-of-14 from the foul line.  Dillion Hader chipped in 21 and Taye Carter led SCTCC in rebounds with six vs. ICC.   In Thief River Falls, Haider again was out in front for the Cyclones with 18 points and four boards.  Taye Carter added 13 points and Paul Coleman scored 15 for SCTCC.   

ROCHESTER COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE: The Yellowjackets added two more Crossover wins to go 4-0 vs. Northern Division foes. Mark Manyuon led RCTC with 18 points vs. HCC and Eddie Oyet grabbed 10 rebounds in the contest.  Against Rainy River, Naail Mahdi led all scorers with 20 points and he grabbed nine rebounds. Karmoga scored 15 and had five boards two assists and a steal, while coming off the bench.  

RIDGEWATER COLLEGE: Travis Visser and Niko Oliver helped lead the Warriors to a 1-1 weekend on the road. Visser had 35 points and 20 rebounds in the two games.  Oliver scored 37 total points, with 13 rebounds, five assists and three steals across both contests.  Warrior Sam Olson contributed 32 points, including 5-for-5 from the foul line on the weekend.  

RAINY RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Voyageurs went 1-1 in the Crossover, with Cedric Harris scoring 37 points and getting 14 rebounds on the weekend.  Greg Barber added 20 points and 20 boards for RCC while Brandon Alcide hit for 29 points over the course of the two games.  

NORTHLAND COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE: The Pioneers were paced by Christian Horton who had 34 points and 20 rebounds over two games along with a blocked shot in each contest.  Ibrahim Nasir chipped in 27 points and Z'mari Minter collected 15 points and 15 rebounds for Northland on the weekend.      

MINNESOTA WEST COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE: The BlueJays went 1-1 on the road in their final Crossover contests, falling to CLC 85-69 but beating FDLTCC, 111-73. In the win over the Thunder, both Emmanuel Akot and  Deshawn Pickford  scored 22 points for MnWest; Akot also grabbed 11 rebounds in the game.  Chris Morales had four steals and 12 points.   Against the Raiders, Jaimon Cheek led Mnwest with 20 points while Jymell Nave hit a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

M STATE-FERGUS FALLS: The Spartans went 1-1 in their final Crossover games and were led by Alend Alemadi in scoring for the weekend with 39 total points.  Aaron Solberg grabbed 11 rebounds against Itasca and Austin Miller had eight rebounds, three assists and 16 points in the Spartan win over Northland.   

MESABI RANGE COLLEGE: Faced two of the toughest Southern Division squads in Anoka-Ramsey and Riverland over the weekend, dropping both contests. Calvin Lee contributed 34 points to the Norsemen efforts and  Bryce Hempel was the leading Mesabi rebounder with a two-game 7.0 average; he also had 5 steals between the two games.  Dajon Devine scored a game-high 16 points off the bench vs. Riverland and Alban Cooke had a two-game point total of 26.    

LAKE SUPERIOR COLLEGE: The IceHawks earned a split in Crossover play over the weekend, losing to Ridgewater 94-80 but beating Gogebic, 91-45.  Keith Shakes averaged 17 points a game for the weekend and grabbed 15 total rebounds.  Andre Jenkins had 27 points in the two games while  Jarves Hunt averaged 13 points a game for Lake Superior.

ITASCA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Torez Kinchen had a big weekend for the Vikings, scoring 52 total points against SCTCC and M State.  He also grabbed 19 total rebounds for ICC.  Devonte Morgan  had 23 points over M State and another 15 vs. SCTCC. Terrell Burney scored double-digits off the bench in each game (12 vs SCTCC, 13 vs. M State) and was perfect from the foul line at 8-for-8 on the weekend.    

HIBBING COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Cardinals went 1-1 in Crossover play behind the scoring of Northern Division POW  Daniel Warren who had 38 points against Western Tech and another 24 vs. RCTC, for a two-game total of 62.  Warren also averaged 13.0 rebounds in the two games.  Deng Deng chipped in two double-digit scoring efforts, notching 17 and 10 points, respectively.  Amaun Ryan scored 29 points acorss the two games and collected 14 rebounds.   Ryan had four assists in each contest.

FOND DU LAC TRIBAL & COMMUNITY COLLEGE: FDLTCC fell to Gogebic and Minnesota West over the weekend. In both games, the Thunder were led by  Kevin Bryant with 64 points, including 34 vs. GCC.  Antonio Morrell had 33 points between the two games while Dijuan McCullom hit for 16 against MnWest.  

CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE: The Raiders swept their Crossover contests to rise to 5-2 on the year and Chris Buckley scored 31 and 24 points, respectively.     JaQuavius Hays scored 45 points total in the two contests and Al-Jureau Ray  notched 33 points over the pair of wins.   Avis Gilbert  came off the bench vs. MnWest to lead CLC win rebounding with 11 boards. 

ANOKA-RAMSEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Golden Rams moved their record to 6-3 on the year with a pair of Crossover wins over Mesabi Range and Vermilion. Steven Colon scored 37 points total in the two games, with 27 coming against the Ironmen.  He also had 11 total rebounds.  Nashiem Lozier chipped in 27 points as well while Justin Castro dished out 11 Golden Ram assists over the course of the two games; Castro averaged 20.5 points a contest for the weekend.
