In some of the last basketball contests around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference before the holiday break, several student-athletes turned in strong efforts on behalf of their teams. The best of the Northern and Southern Division were tabbed as Players-of-the-Week; read on for both Divisional POW selections and the best outings from each MCAC team over the past week.

Central Lakes College standout Chris Buckley has been named the MCAC Northern Division Player-of-the-Week for his dominating performance against Lake Superior College last week. The sophomore from Coon Rapids, Minnesota scored 32 points in 35 minutes of work for the Raiders. Buckley also hauled in five rebounds in the contest and had three steals for Central Lakes. Central Lakes will face off with a pair of MCAC foes from the Southern Division this weekend as they host M State-Fergus Falls and Riverland in Brainerd.

Jalen Dunlap, a sophomore at Anoka-Ramsey Community College has earned Player-of-the-Week honors in the Southern Division for the week ending December 16. The Houston, Texas product came off the bench to help lead a pair of strong Golden Ram efforts this past week against NJCAA Division II programs. Against Bismarck State, Dunlap scored 18 points and dished out five assists, while also snagging four steals in a 97-86 win. He also led his team in scoring in a 81-72 loss to DCTC, notching 21 points, including a 7-of-8 effort from the foul line and a 2-of-3 performance from behind the arc. Anoka-Ramsey is off until after the New Year, when they will travel to the DCTC Classic on January 4-5.

HIBBING COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Cardinals went 1-1 in MCAC Northern Division contests. - Moses Ogunti scored 21 points off the bench against RRCC and Daniel Warren hauled in 11 rebounds. Cole Mammenga had a 20-point effort Vs. FDLTCC in a 102-68 Cardinal win. FOND DU LAC TRIBAL & COMMUNITY COLLEGE: FDLTCC fell to Hibbbing and Minnesota West over the weekend. In both games, the Thunder were led by Kevin Bryant with 52 points, including 27 vs. Itasca. Roderick Washington and Tayjione Nathan combined for 25 rebounds in the ICC contest. CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE: The Raiders won their only contest of the week, beating Lake Superior 84-74. Chris Buckley tallied a game-high 32 points and also grabbed five rebounds. Al-Jureau Ray added 18 while Avis Gilbert chipped in 14 points and six rebounds. Coming off the bench, Malik Kelly had nine rebounds and nine assists. VERMILION COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Vermilion suffered a pair of losses over the weekend to Rainy River and Northland. Against Northland, Curtis Bell had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Ironmen. Maurice Carter added 15 points and Taray Graves had 10 points and eight rebounds. At Rainy River, Devontaye Spates had 15 points to go with six boards and Carter added an additional 11 points and seven boards. RAINY RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Voyageurs jumped to the top of the MCAC Northern Division standings with two wins last week. Brandon Alcide came off the bench against Hibbing to score 17 points, while Cedrick Harris had 16 points, 9 boards and was 5-for-5 from the foul line. Josh Jacobs added 16 points and an impressive 6 steals and Jesus Alfonso had 9 points, five assists and three steals. In a win over Vermilion, Greg Barber led RRCC with 20 points and 12 boards, while Brandon Alcide hit for 16 points against the Ironmen. Teammate Braxton Benvenuti score 15 and Jesus Alfonso scored 14 points and dished out five assists in the VCC contest. NORTHLAND COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE: The Pioneers were paced by Christian Horton who had 34 points and 20 rebounds over two games along with a blocked shot in each contest. Ibrahim Nasir chipped in 27 points and Z'Mari Minter collected 15 points and 15 rebounds for Northland on the weekend. MESABI RANGE COLLEGE: The Norsemen competed in one contest this past week, defeating Northland 80-77 in OT. Bryce Hempel led the way in scoring with 21 points and teammate Calvin Lee added 20 points to the Mesabi Range effort. LAKE SUPERIOR COLLEGE: The IceHawks played one contest over the past week, losing to Itasca 72-46. Keith Shakes led Lake Superior with 14 points and five rebounds, along with three steals and three assists. Nicholas McCready added 12 points and collected a team-high six boards. ITASCA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Vikings picked up two Conference wins over the past week to start Divisional play 2-0. Torez Kinchen had another solid weekend for the Vikings, scoring 36 total points against FDLTCC and Lake Superior. He also grabbed 19 total rebounds between the two games for ICC. Devonte Morgan had 22 points over FDLTCC and another 18 vs. Lake Superior. Jemel Manjo had a 20 point outing against LSC for the Vikings. ANOKA-RAMSEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Golden Rams moved their record to 7-4 on the season with a split against two NJCAA Division II teams. Southern Division POW Jalen Dunlap scored 39 points on the weekend, and Steven Colon added 30 for ARCC. Justin Castro had 5 steals against DCTC and dished out eight assists vs. BSC, while also scoring 28 points between the two games. WESTERN TECHNICAL COLLEGE: Western fell to Bay (MI) College and beat Gogebic over the weekend; both Bay and GCC are NJCAA Division II programs. Mhalik Lindsey score 16 points coming off the bench along with 9 rebounds against Bay. Joshua Brownlee led Western in scoring vs. GCC with 18 points on the day. ROCHESTER COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE: The Yellowjackets picked up two wins over NJCAA Division II programs to move to 7-4 on the year. Naa'il Mahdi had 26 points for RCTC points in the two games. Mark Manyuon had 14 points and nine boards against DCTC and a 15-point / eight rebound day against Bismarck State. MINNESOTA WEST COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE: The BlueJays lost to Little Priest Tribal College in their only action this week. Deshawn Pickford scored 17 points and Emmanuel Akot grabbed 10 boards to lead MnWest. Gary Smith came off the bench to add 12 points and haul in eight rebounds. M STATE-FERGUS FALLS: The Spartans defeated the JV team at Mayville State, 88-65 in their only contest of the week. Austin Miller scored 25 for M State, while Alend Alemadi dished out five assists and scored 15 points himself. Ty'Shawn Bryant had a team-high nine rebounds.
