MCAC Men's Basketball Players-of-the-Week

Despite a change in schedule for most teams due to Mother Nature, several men's basketball teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference put together strong performances over the past several days.  Two student-athletes stood above the rest in their efforts and have earned Player-of-the-Week in their respective Division for the week ending February 3. 

MCAC Southern Division

     Karmoga Lero

Mahtomedi, MN

Karmoga Lero, a freshman guard at Rochester Community & Technical College has been named Player-of-the-Week in the Southern Division. 

Lero, was a major factor in a pair of key Division wins for the Yellowjackets, shooting 14-of-29 from the field and a 36 point week overall.  Between the two contests, the Mahtomedi product also hauled in 9 rebounds and snagged four steals.  RCTC defeated MnWest by a 70-67 scoreline and beat Riverland, 77-72.

Rochester, now 12-9 on the year, will face Western Tech and Ridgewater in upcoming contests this week.

Curtis Bell

Curtis Bell, a freshman guard at Vermilion Community College has been named Player-of-the-Week for his balanced performance on behalf of the Ironmen in a pair of Northern Division contests.

Bell hauled in 22 rebounds, including 12 against Northland Community & Technical College, over two games this past week.  In addition to the 22-board performance, Bell scored 61 total points with a 33 point outing against Mesabi Range College.  For the week, Bell dished ten assists, nine steals and blocked three shots. 

Vermilion Community College will face Fond du Lac Tribal & Technical College and Itasca Community College this week in Divisional action.
