Buckley, Castro Earn All-America Honors

Rochester, MN-

Central Lakes College sophomore Chris Buckley and Anoka-Ramsey Community College sophomore Justin Castro have both earned All-America honors as voted upon by the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball All-America Committee for their outstanding performances during the 2018-19 season.

Buckley led Central Lakes to the MCAC Northern Division regular season title and the Region XIII men's basketball tournament championship.  Hailing from Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Buckley also was key in the Raider upset of previously unbeaten Suffolk County CC, as the No. 8 seeded Central Lakes team knocked off the No. 1 seeded Sharks to open up the NJCAA Division III men's basketball tournament in Rochester.  Statistically, Buckley averaged 21.0 points per game over the course of the season and finished 8th in all of NJCAA Division III basketball in both 3-pointers made (100) and total points scored (651).  For the year, Buckley was a major factor in the 15-1 MCAC Northern Division mark and 26-7 overall record attained by CLC.

Castro was instrumental in the balanced Anoka-Ramsey offense in 2018-19, running the Golden Ram show to the tune of 111 assists on the year for ARCC. He swiped 51 steals and poured in 510 total points, good for a 17.6 points-per-game average.  The Kissimmee, Florida product led Anoka-Ramsey to a 17-12 overall record and 9-5 MCAC Southern Division mark; from the guard position, he also averaged nearly five rebounds a game for his squad. Anoka-Ramsey concluded their season with a 82-62 loss to Riverland in the NJCAA Region XIII tournament semi-finals on March 2 in Coon Rapids.
