MCAC Men's Basketball: Athletes-of-the-Week

The New Year brought with it a resumption of play for several basketball teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and games in early January has yielded the Athletes-the-Week in MCAC men's basketball. 

Adidas, the United States Marine Corps and Nicklasson Athletic Company sponsor the MCAC Athlete-of-the-Week awards, and proudly honor the following student-athletes for their performances this past week on behalf of their teams.

Northern Division

Josh Arnold

Soph. / Guard

Apple Valley, MN

                                                         

The Performance:   Raider sophomore Josh Arnold had a strong week for Central Lakes College, who picked up a couple of wins over MCAC Southern Division foes to start the new year. 

The Apple Valley, Minnesota product had 44 points over two games, shooting 16-of-30 from the floor. Arnold was perfect from the charity stripe, going 5-for-5, while dishing out 16 assists and grabbing 15 steals. 

Central Lakes defeated Minnesota West, 95-60 and beat Ridgewater, 106-88 to start 2020. 

The Raiders return to MCAC Northern Division play on Wednesday when they travel to Thief River Falls to take on Northland CTC.

Antonio Maddox

The Performance:   Rochester Community & Technical College freshman guard Antonio Maddox put together a pair of strong performances this past week against a pair of NJCAA scholarship programs and has been selected as the men's basketball Athlete-of-the-Week in the MCAC Southern Division. 

In a win over Dakota County Technical College, Maddox tallied 21 points, while also dishing out four assists to fellow Yellowjackets.  For the week, Maddox logged 41 minutes, shot 10-of-19 from the field, including 5-of-10 from behind the arc. He also had four boards and three assists.

Maddox and RCTC will begin MCAC Southern Division play this week, traveling to Western Technical College on Wednesday.
