Semi-Finals Set for MBB District Tournament

The last two semi-finalists have punched their ticket and extended their seasons with wins in the 2019-20 NJCAA North District Men's Basketball Tournament. 

Ridgewater College held tough in the first half against nationally-ranked Central Lakes College, but the Raiders pulled away with a dominant second stanza performance. 

Top-seeded Central Lakes College dispatched Ridgewater, 105-83 to advance to the semi-finals on Saturday. The balanced Raiders scoring saw Tyree'on Johnson hit for 25 points, while Lionel Warner had 20 points as well. Beau Bailey and Josh Arnold chipped in 18 each, as four of five CLC starters hit double-digits.  Tyree'on Johnson also grabbed 13 boards as well. 

For Ridgewater, Cartier Bickley led his squad with 24 points while Travis Visser had 22 for the Warriors.  Visser was impressive on the boards, grabbing 19 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive end. Ridgewater concludes their season at 16-10 overall.

Central Lakes College will face Southern Division squad, Rochester Community & Technical College at 4pm.

Rochester Community & Technical College overcame a slow start to top Hibbing Community College to claim the fourth and final spot in the 2019-20 NJCAA North District Men's Basketball Tournament.

The Cardinals led for the first several minutes of the contest and kept the game within reach for much of the first half. Hibbing was led by Mohamed Washington in scoring with 19 points, while teammate Raiden Forrest added 17 for HCC.

RCTC - currently 5th in the NJCAA Division III National Top 15 - saw Ray Adams lead the way with 19 points.   Kong Kong added 18 points and nine boards to the Yellowjacket effort.

Rochester Community & Technical College will tangle with Central Lakes at 6pm in Coon Rapids on the campus of Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
