Anoka-Ramsey Community College is seeing double on the soccer field after the conclusion of the men's and women's soccer seasons in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and the NJCAA Region XIII tournaments.
The men's soccer team at Anoka-Ramsey Community College upset #1 seed Lake Superior College, 4-1 in the Region XIII final on Saturday, October 23rd in Duluth, Mn. The Golden Rams had survived the semi-final round by winning a penalty kick shootout 4-1 on Wednesday, October 18th over Century College, after 1-1 double-overtime tie. On Saturday, Anoka Ramsey again was able to turn in a strong performance, but this time, were able to take care of the match in regulation. Anoka-Ramsey was led by Louie Elliot with two goals and an assist, while Jordan Paton earned the win in goal. Anoka-Ramsey improves to 7-7-3 overall and will host Triton College of River Grove, Illinois in the District semi-final on Wednesday, October 25th. The women's team at Anoka-Ramsey Community College also came away with Region XIII championship hardware over the weekend, with a resounding 12-1 victory over Rochester Community & Technical College. RCTC had upset Lake Superior College, 2-1 on October 19th to earn the trip to the final, but the #1 seeded Golden Rams were decisive in placing their stamp on the Region XIII competition. Kati Beckman (3 goals/3 assists), Megan Beckman (3 goals/2 assists) Allison Bastyr (2 goals/1 assist) all led the way for Anoka-Ramsey in the rout; six different players scored for ARCC in the contest.
The Anoka Ramsey Community College women's soccer team will next play on Saturday, November 4th, when they host a to-be-determined NJCAA opponent at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul at 4pm in the NJCAA District tournament. ARCC will learn of their opponent on Wednesday evening, at the conclusion of other Regional NJCAA women's soccer tournaments. In 2016, Anoka-Ramsey Community College earned a bid to the NJCAA National Tournament in a penalty kick shootout victory over College of DuPage- the Golden Rams went 1-2 at the NJCAA National Finals.
