Region XIII Soccer Finals Set

Winona, MN-

The men's and women's soccer NJCAA Region XIII Championships have been set for the upcoming weekend.

In men's soccer MCAC members Riverland Community College and Anoka-Ramsey Community College will face off in Coon Rapids in their third meeting of 2019.  The Blue Devils (10-2 overall / 4-1 MCAC) fell to the Golden Rams 8-2 in early September, but have gone 9-1 since then, including a 2-1 2OT win over ARCC on September 25.  Riverland dispatched third-seeded Lake Superior College 5-1 on Wednesday for the right to advance.

Anoka-Ramsey (8-5-1 Overall / 5-1 MCAC) has posted a 6-1 mark in their last seven matches, including back-to-back 7-0 wins over Minnesota West CTC and the College of St. Scholastica to wrap up their regular season.  On Saturday, ARCC will be aiming for their fifth straight NJCAA Region XIII men's soccer championship; kickoff is set for 2pm in Coon Rapids on Saturday, October 19.

In women's soccer, Rochester Community & Technical College will also travel to Coon Rapids to face Anoka-Ramsey Community College.  In a match scheduled for Sunday, October 20 at 2pm, the Yellowjackets and Golden Rams will pick up where they left off from a tightly contested 1-1 2OT draw at Rochester in early October.  ARCC defeated RCTC in their first round match up 4-0 en route to a 8-2-1 overall mark in 2019.  Rochester clocks in at 7-5-2 overall this season and defeated MnWest on Thursday to advance to the Region XIII Final.

The winner of Sunday's match will host the 2019 Great Lakes District Championship on November 2-3; the champions of Region XIII, Region IV and Region XII shall compete for a bid to the National touranment.
