Rainy River Softball 2017 Season Prospectus

Rainy River Softball 2017 Season Prospectus

International Falls, MN

On offense,  Rainy River and Coach Dieter Humbert is 6 returning starters which should benefit the Voyageurs.  However, RRCC also lost 4 top players, 1 sophomore and 3 Freshmen that were impact offensive players.  It will key for the Voyageurs to mature quickly at the plate and on the basepaths.

Defensively, Coach Humbert likes the look of his squad. Most importantly, Rainy River returns 3 experienced pitchers who all had successful freshmen seasons.  On the diamond, the infield looks to be strong as well, with the team returning  3 strong defensive players at 3rd  base, shortstop and 1st base.  In the outfield, Coach Humbert notes his group is highlighted by returning 3 strong outfielders.

Another bright spot for Rainy River is their incoming recruiting class. That balanced group includes two catchers, two outfielders and two infield athletes.  The dedication and coachabilty of this young group should yield results in their first season in International Falls.

Coach Dieder Humbert notes the following Keys to Success in 2017:

1)       Development of catchers defensively and game calling.

2)       Consistency of defensive improvement.

3)       Overall team health and avoiding injuries.

Rainy River kicks off the 2017 Softball season on Tuesday, March 7th in Titusville, Florida as they take on MCAC foe, St. Cloud Technical & Community College. First pitch is 1pm, EST.
