Rainy River Athlete earns Player of the Week

Rochester, Mn:

The Rainy River Community College softball team has won four of their last six outings, and power from the plate has been a big factor in the Voyageurs success.  One Rainy River student-athlete in particular was seen to be tearing the cover off the ball, and her hitting prowess has earned her Player-of-the-Week status.

Sareena Parendo, a catcher/outfielder at Rainy River, hit a home run and drove in four RBI's against Riverland Community College in an 8-7 extra-inning win.  She had three hits total in the game against the MCAC South opponent Blue Devils.  In her second game of the day, Parendo scored a team-high 5 runs on two hits, as the Voyageur squad toppled Ridgewater, 23-3.

Parendo's Rainy River squad went 2-2 at the MCAC Crossover Tournament held in Rochester, Minnesota at the RCTC Dome.  They take on Central Lakes and St. Cloud Tech this Saturday, April 1st in Brainerd.
